Innovations in Learning Conference
Peers Not Fears was honored to present two workshops at the Innovations in Learning Conference. The Youth Ambassadors for Connors Climb shared their experiences in a panel discussion. Peer Leaders with the Peer Impact Program from The Founders Academy facilitated some leadership activities with participants to showcase their leadership and how the Peer Impact Program could work at their schools.

Confidence and Teamwork Leadership
Paraeducators are often working with a student population that comes with labels, even our paras feel like they are labeled by other members of their community. These labels prevent the community from feeling like they are on the same page and working toward the same goals. Our goal was to talk about labels in a safe place, to challenge our own labels, which can be good and bad, and to build empathy and understanding of how labels impact everyone involved.
NEW ENGLAND FACULTY DEVELOPMENT CONSORTIUM CONFERENCE
November 2021
Two former students, Marisa Dobbins and Avery Forrestall joined me for the NEFDC conference. We were able to talk about student voices and the importance of giving students opportunities. While the conference was directed toward college faculty, the material we presented was appropriate for all educators. Through this conference, I learned that several colleges are implementing an approach that uses students as consultants. I am eager to embed this into my own practices while creating opportunities to share it with other educational institutions that I am asked to work with on developing student leadership.
